Music

Here at St Dominic’s Primary School, music plays an important role in our students’ learning and wellbeing. Music provides opportunities for creativity, self-expression and confidence, while supporting important skills such as listening, focus and teamwork. Through engaging and hands-on lessons, students are encouraged to explore and enjoy music in a supportive environment.

Music is taught as a specialist subject and is a valued part of our school curriculum. Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to learn and play a variety of instruments, including keyboard, guitar and drums. These experiences help students develop coordination, perseverance and a growing appreciation for music.

In lessons, students learn about key musical concepts such as rhythm, pattern and structure, and how music is organised and created. They take part in practical activities, group work and performances that build musical understanding while fostering collaboration and confidence.

Music lessons are inclusive, engaging and designed to support the whole child, giving every student the opportunity to succeed and shine in different ways. We look forward to sharing students’ musical learning and achievements with families throughout the year.
