Each year selected Year 6 students assume the responsibility of school leaders. We place an enormous emphasis on our Year 6 leaders to influence their peers through the example they set each day. When selecting these students in their role we place a heavy focus on how these children behave and demonstrate a commitment to their learning. The roles that our Year 6 students apply for are:
School Captains, Vice Captains, House Captains, Social Justice Captains and Environment Captains. These children have specific tasks to carry out over the course of the year. Some of these tasks are: welcome new families into the school, welcome guests into St. Dominic's, leading assemblies, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day commemorations and carrying out various Social Justice activities.
Our leaders take their roles very seriously and they love to support the school and teachers. We work throughout the year to develop their leadership skills through different workshops.
